About the Tour Every spring, we celebrate city living with the Big BIG Tour. It's the only city-wide, urban-focused house tour and it's absolutely free to attendees! The tour is an excellent opportunity for first-time homebuyers, empty-nesters, curiosity-seekers and anyone else interested in the Saint Louis urban landscape to take a peek into life in many of the city’s distinct neighborhoods. Ever picture yourself in a loft? Curious about co-housing? Maybe you've dreamed of a live/work space? Possibly you're energized to find a place and make it your own with commitment and a little elbow grease. Have you imagined living in a gorgeous renovated historic home or maybe you're looking for a new construction home or loft space. Whatever finding that place called “home” means to you, you'll find it on the Big BIG Tour. On event day, a detailed program and maps for the self-guided tour are provided at the starting point where attendees also find an informative Homebuyer's Fair. Here, they visit with neighborhood groups, review mortgage packages and discover additional real estate related services before setting out on their adventure in Saint Louis urban real estate.
ReVitalize St. Louis Promotes City Living ReVitalize St. Louis is proud to organize the annual Big BIG Tour! We promote revitalization efforts in the City of St. Louis through education, support of progressive civic projects, and strengthening communities. The organization's mission and vision point towards a future for St. Louis where innovative development ideas are implemented with broad community support, where citizens celebrate the city's unique building heritage, and where we can all work together towards a sustainable St. Louis.
How the Tour Got Started This free self-guided city-wide house tour had its beginnings in 1999 when Marti Frumhoff, a local realtor who whole-heartedly believed in the city, decided to share "the best-kept secret" of city living in a big way with the greater St. Louis community. There was huge potential in the properties available for sale and she thought there must be an equally great demand for urban-minded folks of all kinds to find quality residences in the unique and diverse neighborhoods of Saint Louis. So every year since, the tour has grown both in properties to view and in the level of interest from the public. Hundreds of people take the tour every year viewing properties like single-family homes, lofts, two-family and four-family residences, all presented in styles and prices ranges from rehab projects and completely restored historic homes to new construction.
